Memos

Monday, April 1
Judge Orrin Travis
1714 Cape May Rd.
San Diego, CA

Dear Sir,

Due to the untimely date and situation currently at hand, I am forced to decline your offer of bringing aboard a new assistant. I hope I make myself clear, sir, when I say there will never be a good time for me to bring aboard a new assistant. Send her back, reassign her, but don't send her here.

With all due respect,

Chris Larabee, Private Investigator

Dear Mr. Larabee,

I am going to pretend I did not receive that last memo of yours and am replying only to inform you Ashley Glavin will be arriving at the LAW office Friday morning, 0800 sharp. I trust she will be well taken care of and will see to her situation when I arrive back in town Monday afternoon. Until then, she is to stay at the Boarding House. I want to thank you Chris for participating in this program.

Sincerely,

Judge Orrin Travis

"Buck!"

Papers flew past the rogue, causing Buck to drop his latest copy of Hot Rod magazine, knocking his feet from the desktop, landing his morning doughnuts into the trash.

"Ya know Chris, you're gonna have to stop doing that," Buck frowned as he shuffled the errant papers into a makeshift pile..amongst the other...piles on his desk...the "Hot Rod" magazine being laid carefully off to one side.

With a heads up glance to the man who hadn't spoken another word since his greeting, the rogue's moustache twitched as he read between the lines on Chris' forehead as he took position behind his desk.

"He's sending her ain't he?"

"She'll be her tomorrow." the anticipation in his voice could choke a horse.

Buck chuckled as he returned to his Hot Rod magazine, his feet once more going for the desktop.

"If she's anything like what those boys over at Simon & Simon say," the grin remains as he slides the magazine back over his face.

"I don't care what Rick or AJ have to say, I read her file."

"Don't mean nothin," Buck replies from behind the magazine, "I read lots of things I have a hard time believing."

"Yeah, well if you'd ever take your nose out of those National Examiners long enough to get any work done." the tone is playful, though the message quite serious as Chris settles down for what shall prove to be a long day.

When they said they'd give me a second chance, I didn't know they were talking about returning to an Investigation firm. Okay...so I messed up working with Rick and AJ...not like no one else has tapped into DMV records to run tags on old boyfriends...or new ones...just, well...I got caught. Orrin and I, we go way back...well least a few years. What really bums me out is, had Rick not walked in as Judy was freaking out that her current squeeze was arrested for prostitution of all things...I wouldn't be in this mess. So, now I'm heading to LAW as Orrin's refers to it, Larabee and Wilmington. I've heard Rick and AJ discussing the detectives over there...should be very interesting.
